I will begin with a confession… I have not always been a lover of Books!

“Anything you will ever need to know, about anything you will ever have to do, can be found in a book… So go get a library card!”

As a child, I could never sit still long enough to make it through any chapter of any book in school. I am pretty sure I never finished any book assigned to me by my teachers. In College, I learned a little bit of discipline to do things I didn’t like doing, so I soon was able to digest a whole literary content or plot. After school, I worked a lot of over-time, I never had extra time. Where would I even start with leisurely reading… I had never discovered my favorite genre or authors, like those who would become much wiser and cultured than I (me?).

Soon into my young adult life, as I struggled to “adult” as they say, words from my father lived rent free in my brain

“Anything you will ever need to know, about anything you will ever have to do, can be found in a book… So go get a library card!”

Begrudgingly, life led me to collecting books on plumbing, taxes, car maintenance, how to write a good resume, health, romance (how tos more than novels). Wedding Magazines and books on financial freedom were soon followed by books on how to be a good wife, home making on a budget and couples biblical guide to unity. Needless to say, with a gap of time and a couple more unmentionable books, I began purchasing books like “Healing What’s Hidden”, “Boundaries” and “Divorce for Dummies”. Like I said, these were all book I was looking for begrudgingly.

Your bookshelf tells the story of your life.

It gives hints to who you are, what’s important to you, or who you want to be. So what does my book shelf look like now?

My collection has adopted books on plants, cooking and ministry, as well as children’s books and family caretaking. But ALSO, murder mysteries, novels, historical fiction, biographies and the list goes on and on. And it is true, my book shelf reflects my life, the journey and hopeful future!

One might say, I should choose a lane… they are probably right! After I began to heal from deep wounds, my mindset began to heal as well. I was finally able to pick up a book and be eager about what was hidden inside. Eager to learn, eager to immerse into another world. I began buying books for FUN!… Who knew I would love murder mysteries! Maybe a little less after baby was born. But the difference is that I haven’t just been looking for information on how to get by any more, I am reading in order to enrich the life I have been blessed with!

My life today

  • I am part of an adorable family of four (my hardworking husband, energetic daughter, and 13-year-old puppy).
  • With a background in Health Sciences, I now work at a tight-knit elementary school as a Principal’s Assistant and run afterschool programs.
  • It’s an honor to be a Pastor’s wife, invested in our community and church life.
  • I have the privilege of being our denomination’s Pacific Region Women’s Ministry President, organizing fundraisers and retreats to connect women and refocus on our true source of strength.
  • I love gardening, crafting, and music (my husband and I are in music ministry!)

I want to share my love of life, through our love of reading!

Life can be enriched through the magical world of literature and the written word. Your knowledge is my knowledge. I am a humble product of many other, smarter, wiser, more educated and creative people, who have gone before us. What a great thing it is, that they left their thoughts and discoveries for us to learn from. I look forward to sharing my reviews (because let’s be honest, not all books are winners) but also my real-life applications of the books we all are curious about!
